Preface: I agree that this is highly unprofessional and that the cop should hold himself to a higher standard. He could have written her up for resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Both would have been more effective punishment than kicking her.

HOWEVER…

To all those people saying “I fucking hate cops”… if some crazy drunk woman shin kicked you, by reflex alone, I’m betting you would have kicked her right back. It’s easy being righteous from afar. This cop is most certainly an ass, but there are so many good cops that go unnoticed. A good cop is not a compelling story for the news. They do a thankless job for little pay. They come when we call. They head into the danger. They protect and serve. You will never hear me make some blanket remark that all cops are bad and it makes me sad when others do. 

Are you even serious? He should hold himself to a higher standard? No, he must. Your complacency toward this kind of abuse is unacceptable.

As for kicking her by reflex, this is such bullshit, just look at the gif, he clearly takes the time to look at her, then aim for the head and kick her as hard as he can, placing his foot sideways not to hurt his toes, and then goes back to whatever he was doing immediately. He’s done exactly what he wanted to do and he doesn’t show any sort of culpability.

As for betting everyone would do the same, are you publicly saying on tumblr that if a handcuffed woman were to kick your feet, you would most probably immediately kick her back right in the face? You must have serious anger management issues.

Screw you and cops as well. Most cops abuse their power, even if it’s not in such a blatant way. Also, you can not become a cop if you score too high on an intelligence test, you would be rejected. Cops are selected for being as malleable as possible, and mercenaries are only as good as the people they obey. So even if they would be doing their jobs properly, I still would not trust them.
